"When they got funding to make their own community film project through the National Lottery’s Big Local scheme, it was natural that their chosen genre was zombie. They wanted to steer clear of documentary – some of them knew people who’d been in Channel 4’s Benefits Street, filmed five miles away in Winson Green. Why not wear latex wounds and embody a group on the margins instead?"
