About this event
The role of the council and councillor is changing – local authorities have traditionally had a paternalistic relationship with their communities, with councillors leading from the front and deciding what services a local area needs. In the face of funding shortages, communities have stepped in to fill that role. This shift in power has changed the relationship between communities and councils.
The Local Trust and NLGN are conducting a research into the challenges and future relationship between councils, local communities and Big Local areas. As part of this research, we will be holding a workshop to explore these issues. We encourage Big Local areas, council officers and councillors to share your experiences and join us in the discussion by signing up to attend this workshop. This event will be in Birmingham - venue details and timings to be shared with confirmed participants.
To sign up, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
